DOWNTOWN.   Serving American-Continental cuisine, the dark-paneled Capitol Grille is located on the lower level of the Hermitage Hotel. This downtown restaurant is a favorite among professionals and locals for business lunches and pre-theater. Breakfast is also a favorite, with offerings such as the Eggs Benedict "Commander Style;" The Nashvillian with two eggs, ham, grits, and biscuits and gravy; and the Steak and Eggs. I've eaten there several times and have always found the food to be very good and well presented. At times the service has been excellent, but just as often it's been lacking. Sad, but true, the staff seems pretentious and that hurts the overall positive experience.

We had a $150 lunch with four people and everyone left hungry. This is probably the silliest kitchen in Nashville. The service was awful and just goofy, the food was okay, the pretense was off the charts.

An extremely expensive restaurant with grade "B" food and presentation. I was really expecting outstanding food, given the glowing reviews. Alas, it was not to happen this night. The worst, though, is the insufferable, pompous attitudes of the restaurant staff.
