HILLSBORO VILLAGE.   This legendary breakfast joint near Vanderbilt University serves one of Nashville's tastiest morning meals, especially if you're in the mood for their signature pancakes. For a delicious initiation, smother an order with your topping of choice – old-fashioned maple syrup, cinnamon-cream, or even raspberry cream. If you're really hungry and flapjacks just won't do, a waitress may be able to talk you into the Grill Cook's Medley – fried potatoes smothered with eggs, cheese, peppers, and who knows what else!   (© 10Best)

After hearing great recommendations about the Pancake Pantry, I was excited to try it out! When I arrived, we had to stand in line rather than being able to place our name with a hostess. There was an employee at the door allowing people to go in as tables opened up in such a way that I felt like I was waiting for a bouncer to let me in to a bar. After finally being herded in, the atmosphere felt like an overcrowded cafeteria. After eating my pancakes, which I initially found satisfying, I got sick, as did my friends who came with me. Later, I found out that the Pancake Pantry received a low health score of only 73. I would recommend staying away from this place!

OVERPRICED, POOR SERVICE and LONG WAITS. Yes I had read the reviews but it sounded like it was worth the wait....What we found was much worse. You are herded around by the doors like cattle at a auction. People are constantly "scolded" for not remaining in a single line and standing right where you have been told to stand. I will agree the food wasn't bad but certainly not worth the prices. Four small pancakes $9.00, a meal for four will set you back $50 easy. We had to ask our server for refills on coffee and water several time before she could remember to come back with the drinks. Eating at the Pancake Pantry is like eating in a military dining hall. March in, sit down, shut up, empty your wallet and get out.

Excellent service and awesome food! I highly recommend peaches and cream pancakes if you like Georgia peaches (my fav). We went early and was not rushed through our meal even though there was a waiting line winding down the street and around the corner with folks just waiting to experience their wonderful breakfast of the day. Our waitress had a wonderful personality and could not do enough for us! We will definitely go back whenever we are in Nashville.
