DOWNTOWN.   Located in a renovated railroad building, the aptly named Stock Yard is the place where many locals go when they want to celebrate a special occasion. This classy restaurant boasts authentic décor, from the imported chandelier lighting in the foyer to the classic cherry wood accents reminiscent of the early supper clubs. The menu features a variety of hand selected steaks, as well as lobster, chicken, pork and pasta alternatives. If you are waiting on a table, be sure to check out the bar which features perhaps the best martinis in middle Tennessee. NB Complimentary shuttle service.   (© 10Best)

Best steak I have ever had. Oysters were excellent as well.

Had dinner here August 2000. A nice touch is they have a shuttle which picked me up at my downtown hotel and brought me back after dinner. The atmosphere was as expected. The prices were not. Reminded me of Chicago. Prime rib around $25, porterhouse was $33, and surf and turf $43. A bit pricey for steak. I get the impression that due to their status and the number of celebrities which have dined there, that they can charge these type of prices. The service was good, friendly and questions were answered well. The meal was good, but I would rather spend my money on something more interesting than a steak dinner. I do think the steaks I prepare at home are better and a lot less expensive.
