FRANKLIN. British Tailors' craftsmanship is so fine that the alterations they complete are usually better than the original garment's construction. Owner Sam Mirchandani takes great pride in his tailoring and in his shop, and it shows. Custom-made suits and shirts, original dress designs, expert alterations (overnight, if necessary), luggage repair, and other tailoring needs are easily accommodated.
FRANKLIN. Spanning four levels in a historic brick building, Dion's is home to a staff of expert stylists whose focus is on the client. The entire team, from award-winning owner and senior stylist Richard Dion to the gracious front desk crew, is friendly and warm without exhibiting a trace of pretension. Senior stylists regularly travel to New York, Los Angeles, and Paris to stay abreast of the latest styles and treatments.
GREEN HILLS. Mark and mono-named Chukki run the Y-Boot & Change Camps. These limited-enrollment, high-intensity classes, involving a variety of drills, cardio activity, and strength training exercises, can help even the laziest couch potato shape up. Mark and Chukki have also mastered the fine art of knowing how hard to push their students while still making workouts fun – or at least bearable.
BELLE MEADE. Bachelorettes, bridal parties, and Belle Meade socialites have made Illusions Nashville's go-to salon for everything from a simple set and blow-dry to a full spa day. Put yourself in the capable hands of Illusions' expert staff, and treat yourself to a salt glow or a spa body facial, followed by an herbal steam shower and a massage. You'll feel completely pampered. Guys love their gentlemen's services as well.
WEST END AVENUE. From the moment Mickey Parks and his fellow valets smile and greet you until you reluctantly leave, the Loews staff – especially concierge manager Regina Hicks – make you feel as if they exist solely to meet your every need. Among all the perks, you'll find a room service menu for your pet, as well as a toy lending program for kids.
GREEN HILLS. A temple of pampering and relaxation, complete with Greek columns, Signature is nevertheless always busy. Even so, nail techs never make clients feel rushed, and pedicures include a thorough leg and foot massage, along with a warm towel wrap. Stations are placed so that every chair has a view of a flat-screen TV, usually set to the Food Channel. Complimentary white wine and bottled water are available.
HILLSBORO VILLAGE. Dining at one of restaurant owner Randy Rayburn's establishments is about much more than food – although that component is never less than imaginative and delicious. His unobtrusive yet polite and diligent staffs appear entirely dedicated to ensuring that patrons enjoy excellent meals in comfortable, interesting settings. Rayburn seems to be everywhere at once, overseeing it all. He's a good guy, too, donating 1% of sales to local non-profit and community groups.
HILLSBORO VILLAGE. The Belcourt is a historic theater now run by a non-profit group. It functions as a home for classic, independent, and foreign films and is staffed by avid film lovers who not only tell you about the movies showing but explain why they were chosen and why you should see them. Friendly, accessible, and offering a wide variety of snacks and beers, the theater also hosts concerts and various other events.
GREEN HILLS. Ed Fryer loves wine, he knows wine, and he isn't a snob about it. He and his equally knowledgeable staff (including several family members) are happy to help you select just the right wine at a price you can afford, be it $10 or $100. Look for his new store, YN, in the Hill Center a bit further south on Hillsboro Road, too.
HILLSBORO VILLAGE. While Village Jewelers offers designs to suit every taste, both in original creations and in selections from top jewelry designers, the shop's low-pressure style and incredible depth of knowledge – displayed by owner Nyuma Shor and showroom manager Corey Caldwell – have made Village the jeweler of choice for generations of Nashvillians. Custom design, repairs, appraisals, reworking of heirloom stones into new pieces, and unparalleled customer attention are among the services offered. It's great to be treated like royalty, to know that you matter to someone's business. Now, read up on employees who go above and beyond to serve you. We'll share the names of bars where bartenders mix special drinks, restaurants where servers remember your name and your order, and salons where the staff go that extra mile to put you at ease. All are worthy of mention, and we'll ensure that you know what to expect when you show up.
