WEST END AVENUE. Situated across the street from Vanderbilt University, this grand hotel offers excellent service, luxury accomodations, and a wealth of amenities. Each of the well-appointed guest rooms features coffeemaker, CD player, mini-bar, fax machine, and dual-line phone with voice mail and dataport. On-site facilities include several restaurants, full fitness and business centers, gift shops and boutiques, a full-service salon, and even an art gallery. Event space for 1200. 354 guest rooms and suites. Self-parking: $21 per day; valet: $26 per day.

MURFREESBORO. Built in 1899, this lovely home is a hop, skip and a jump from downtown Nashville. The interior decor features antiques and period details. Guests can expect their room to share in the period theme, as each includes antique furnishings, fireplace and king or queen-size beds. Innkeepers Sharon and Tom Petty dazzle guests each morning with a full gourmet breakfast served either on the porch, in the garden or in the quaint dining room. Found near the Stone River Battlefield. Five guest rooms in the main inn, plus a three-bedroom cottage next door available as a family-style rental or as individual guest rooms.

The queen-size feather beds are especially inviting, and each room includes in-room air conditioner, cable television, fireplace and antique furnishings. The home is tastefully decorated to provide comfort to all guests. Vanderbilt University and Music Row are both within a short distance. Accepts children and some pets.
