Truly a mega resort, Atlantis occupies much of Paradise Island. The signature feature is its collection of different water habitats, which are home to more than 70,000 marine animals. It's like a massive open-air aquarium, accented with swimming pools, waterfalls, thrilling waterslides and a snorkeling trail. Close encounters with some of the critters are available, too, an experience you won't find at most aquariums. As for the resort's other features, services and facilities – let's just say they are numerous and wide ranging. It will literally take you days to see and do it all. Accommodations are in several towers, and although you won't spend much time in your room, it will be very well equipped and comfortable. About 2500 rooms and suites. Event space for 3000. All-inclusive packages are available.

Catering to a youthful crowd of singles and couples, the all-inclusive Breezes Resort is set on the beach and has everything. You could spend your entire vacation here, never leaving the property, and amazingly enough, never needing to! For entertainment and recreation, there's the beach of course, as well as three pool, a fitness center, game room, watersports, tennis, bicycling, volleyball, shopping, and several restaurants, bars and nightclubs. Rooms and suites are quite comfortable and fully equipped, with satellite TV, CD player, coffeemaker, hair dryer and safe. Perhaps one of the nicest things about Breezes is that the all-inclusive price means just that – there are absolutely no extra charges. Even transportation to and from the airport is included. But tipping is verboten! 400 rooms and suites. Event space for 400.

Probably the most prominent landmark in downtown Nassau, this dignified pink hotel occupies eight beachfront acres. Like the rest of the island, the Hilton still capitalizes on its role in two James Bond flicks (the super spy had martinis here in both Thunderball and Never Say Never Again), and while it's not as glitzy as its competitors, it is decidedly classy in a quiet sort of way. All the expected features and amenities are here: pool, fitness room, business center, restaurants and bars. All accommodations are outfitted with rather elegant furnishings and high-speed Internet access, cable TV, coffeemaker, hair dryer, mini-bar and laptop-sized safe. 291 rooms and suites. Event space for 350.

Originally built in the 1700s, Graycliff became Nassau's first inn in 1844. Today the complex consists of three buildings: the original structure functions as a five-star restaurant and houses several individually decorated guest rooms, an 18th-century plantation home houses the Graycliff Cigar Company, and a recently constructed building contains a fitness center and spa. There are also a handful of charming guest cottages scattered around the property. Interspersed among the long-established gardens are three pools. It's definitely not as flashy as some of the other hotels in and around Nassau, but it more than exceeds in the elegance, service and class departments. 20 rooms and suites. Perched aside the Atlantis, this adult- and family-oriented hotel has many similar features without all the glitz (or the high price tag). True, it lacks a casino and can't boast any themed aquariums. But it does have spacious and beautifully landscaped grounds with plenty of beach frontage, pools, several restaurants and bars, shops, a full service spa and more. Don't be surprised to find rooms a bit nicer than you'd find at the mega resort next door, with lots of little extras. 379 rooms and suites. Event space for 700. All-inclusive options available.

Arguably the classiest resort in the Bahamas, the One & Only Ocean Club enjoys a gorgeous residential-style setting right on the beach, brimming with carefully maintained gardens. Indeed, some of the villas and cottages are privately owned by celebrities from around the world. In addition to the larger separate residences, there are rooms and suites in the main building, all with a private balcony, hardwood floors, fresh flowers and elegant furnishings, plus satellite TV, DVD and CD players, mini-bar, and numerous other top-notch amenities. The sprawling grounds encompass an adults-only pool with specialized concierge service, a family pool with waterfall and toys, tennis courts, a Tom Weiskopf designed golf course, a full service spa, and both upscale and casual dining options. The sheer number of services is astounding, and guests enjoy full privileges at the adjacent Atlantis Resort. 106 rooms and suites.

This family friendly resort not only has a private beach, it has a huge pool with a waterslide, a video arcade, tennis courts, horseshoe, badminton, basketball, beach volleyball, tetherball, free daily scuba lessons and an assortment of organized activities for kids. There are two restaurants and bars from which to choose, with several more in the immediate vicinity. Rooms are comfortable and well-furnished, with balcony, cable TV, pay-per-view movies and Nintendo games, mini refrigerator, coffeemaker and a safe. 242 rooms and suites. Event space for 200.

Catering especially to couples, Sandals strives to create a romantic haven that's ideal for honeymoons and special vacations. The resort has its own private island, just a quick boat ride away, where you can lounge on white sand beaches, swim in the ocean or the pool, and even enjoy a meal at the full-service restaurant. Back at the main property, you'll find more restaurants and bars, a full service spa, numerous sports and activities in the water and on land, and two pools with swim-up bars. Accommodations are exceptional: each guest room has a king size bed, hair dryer, safe, CD player and satellite TV, and most have a private balcony. 405 rooms and suites.

CABLE BEACH. Set on seven acres, including 1000 feet of beachfront, this Sheraton offers an array of recreational facilities that are sure to keep you just as busy as you want to be. The property is beautifully landscaped with masses of tropical foliage, interspersed with three large free-form pools and waterfalls. Several watersports are offered, from sailing to snorkeling to water bikes, and the fitness center features squash, racquetball and tennis courts. Popular with families, the resort has a children's program, plus numerous dining options. With 200 yards of white sandy beach right outside the door and a plethora of watersports, the Wyndham is understandably popular. But the resort has many other recreational opportunities to recommend it: the Crystal Palace Casino, a shopping arcade, numerous restaurants and bars, a full service spa, a huge saltwater swimming lagoon with a two-story spiral waterslide, and plenty more. Comfortably furnished guest rooms all have a have private balcony and are equipped with cable TV with pay-per-view movies, voice mail, coffeemaker, and a safe.
