2. Chez Willie

I am giving this restaurant only one star for the fact that it has miraculously remained open. What an overrated and overpriced hole in the wall that has an antiquated atmostphere and sub par food. My "palate cleanser" of raspberry(?) ice tasted freezer burned. The Willie special that was pastry covered crab and who knows what else was absolutely awful. That pastry was very soggy. I am being kind here. The wait staff was minimal and worn out. We should have taken the Atlantis hotel's advice and stayed clear of Chez Willie.

unfortunately the rating of 'needs work' afforded by this website is not low enough. place is so bad I would have thought I was in a bad comedy sketch involving a 1960s english restaurant. words fail me - just don't go there!!

When my lovely girlfriends and I selected Chez Willie for our one fabulous evening out, we thought we'd made a marvelous choice. The room was beautiful (if only a tiny bit smelly - moldy really), and the owner was charming. The food was quite good. But service was beyond the pale - particularly when considering the tab was over $100 per person. When we arrived (before 7:00 I'll admit), it took quite some time before we were served water. We waited parched in a lovely room about half an hour when we had been told it would be 10 minutes. Then it was suggested that we dine in the waiting room picnic style (we should have left then). We asked for a table. After being seated we requested bread not once, not twice, but three times before being served. We knew all was not well, but still, filled with vacation euphoria we stayed. At the time we ordered dinner, we ordered a coconut souffle (a house speciality). Dinner moved along fairly well, until it was time for the dessert course. The waiter forgot to put in our dessert order - but he didn't admit that he had just put in the order - that became all too apparent. I asked for coffee while I waited and waited and waited - for the coffee. Finally I spoke with the owner. I told him what an evening we had had. He seemed surprised, perplexed. Fourty-five minutes after we had finished dinner and my coffee was gone and never offered a refill - the souffle came. It was delicious, if somewhat tainted by our sour mood. Then the $340 check came with no consideration for the lack of service, I had to request that the bill be reduced. No quality establishment would have let customers fume the night away - especially since the owner was well aware. I couldn't recommend this to anyone at anytime. I'll never be back.

A very romantic spot. One of the top 10 on the island for fine eating. The grouper in coconut sauce is AMAZING!

My wife and I had our wedding reception at Chez Willie. Willie, his staff and the incredible food made the event better than we could have expected.
