The old Martinique was world-famous for its impeccable food and service, not to mention its role in the 1965 James Bond thriller, Thunderball. Sadly, the island icon was demolished when Atlantis moved in. The good news is that the new Martinique is possibly even better. The cuisine remains traditional French with some intriguing modern interpretations, service is as flawless as it ever was, and the wine selection has grown. Under the guidance of celeb chef and restaurateur Jean-Georges Vongerichten, the restaurant manages to simultaneously comfort with familiar dishes and wow with new interpretations. A can't miss dining experience!

The elegant, fine French/Bahamian gourmet selections complement the romantic ambience of this restaurant. Fresh fish with Bahamian spices and side dishes as well as nightly specials are offered. The host/owner Mr. Willie Armstrong is charming and attentive. This is a great, romantic restaurant, and it's well worth making a reservation in advance for the experience. A local favorite! Jacket suggested, but not required.

International super-chef Jean-Georges Vongerichten has added two Bahamas eateries to his ever-growing list of innovative restaurants. His creative fusion of Asian and French cuisines, with a hint of local island flavor, makes for a truly unique dining experience here. Highlights include tuna spring rolls with soybean salsa, chicken and coconut milk soup with shiitake cakes, goat cheese and watermelon salad, and filet of grouper with a fabulous spicy tomato sauce. But Dune's ambience, created by French interior designer Christian Liaigre, should get equal billing – striking ocean views, wraparound terraces, and an intriguing display kitchen combine for absolutely winning results.

Graycliff's Brazilian steakhouse is a rousing success on all fronts. First, there's the food. You choose from a never-ending parade of well-seasoned rotisserie-roasted meats like pork tenderloin, filet mignon, rack of lamb, sirloin steak and more. The accompanying salad bar is more like a buffet, laden with appetizers, sides and vegetable dishes. Then there's the wine. Graycliff has a world-renowned wine cellar with some 250,000 bottles spanning every price range. And the cigars – about 90 varieties, many of which are made right on the premises. Finally there's the service. In true Graycliff fashion, service is flawless from start to finish.

Internationally known chef Nobu Matsuhisa has acclaimed restaurants in world-class cities such as New York City, London, Las Vegas, Miami, Dallas, Milan and Tokyo. Add Nassau to the list! Opened in the spring of 2006, Atlantis' Nobu is every bit as elegant, sleek and wonderful as its brothers and sisters, and the food is just as fabulous. Sushi and sashimi make up most of the menu, but there are several additional options as well, including steaks, tempura and a host of cooked Japanese dishes. And in case you're wondering, conch is indeed on the menu! Well-behaved children over 12 are welcome.

Leather booths, damask tablecloths, linen napkins – these are not the usual hallmarks of a buffet restaurant. But then, Portofino isn't your usual buffet restaurant. While impressive breakfast and lunch buffets are offered throughout the week, the restaurant really shines as day turns to evening. There's an extensive a la carte menu, and on Friday nights you'll find a festive Bahamian buffet; Saturday's specialty is seafood. Reservations are not necessary for breakfast or lunch but are recommended for dinner.

Nassau has several fine Italian restaurants from which to choose, but this is one of the loveliest, with two covered terraces, cherry wood floors, a display kitchen, and an eclectic collection of multicolored glass bottles along one wall. The menu changes with the seasons, but might include a velvety golden pumpkin soup with shrimp and roasted sunflower seeds, seared yellowfin tuna topped with foie gras and a port wine glaze, or veal pan-fried in lemon-brioche crumbs served with sage brown butter. Arrive before your reservation time to enjoy a drink or two in the lounge upstairs, a trendy spot with an open balcony and live piano music.

Since Sole Mare is open only two nights a week, reservations are a must, but you will not be disappointed. From the elegant Art Deco interior and serene ocean view to the impeccable service, this is romantic dining at its best. Start with a Caesar salad prepared fresh at your table. Then enjoy tender shrimp and lobster on capellini, veal or lamb, or even lobster tail stuffed with crab. Light yet richly flavored tiramisu is the perfect ending. Perfect if you want to impress a date!

Among a handful of absolutely top-notch restaurants in the Bahamas, Sun and... has been wowing patrons since 1956. In the early days, the clientele was a never-ending procession of the rich and famous, a trend that continues to this day (although the present owners make a point of keeping their roster of past guests confidential). The restaurant has several dining areas, including outdoor spaces and an air-conditioned indoor lounge. All ingredients are finest quality: certified Angus Beef, fresh locally caught seafood and locally grown herbs, the best local and imported vegetables. Lobster bisque, seared foie-gras, grilled conch, braised duckling with honey-raspberry sauce, and seared venison are just a few of many outstanding options. Try one of the signature dessert soufflés – they are sublime!

What began back in the 1960s as a few ramshackle huts hastily constructed to serve quick meals to folks on their way to and from the customs shed is today a thriving Bahamian institution. Stalls now number close to 40, and they are considerably better built, but the food continues to be as close to homemade as you can find. Seafood is the predominant ingredient, and it is as fresh as it can be. It's a great place to try conch – you'll find conch salad, scorched conch, conch fritters, cracked conch and conch chowder just to name a few of the most popular dishes. But there are plenty of other choices, from grilled shrimp and lobster to fresh fish. Several festivals and public events are held here each year, but the atmosphere is decidedly upbeat and festive every day!
