Matisse the painter may have been thoroughly French, but Matisse the café is completely Italian. Set in an 1800s home, the restaurant has a charming courtyard and an abundance of colorful art prints on the walls. The menu changes every three months, taking advantage of the freshest available produce, but dishes are creative and wonderfully flavorful. You might enjoy an appetizer of thinly sliced veal with a tuna-caper sauce, or lobster salad with hearts of palm and orange-ginger vinaigrette. Pastas and gnocchi are homemade, and main dishes such as rack of lamb, baked snapper with braised fennel, and veal with prosciutto on a bed of spinach are all divine.

WOW!! I need to know the area's w/in the US and abroad how these people rate this place a 5 star! I guess if you like the fancy hankie effect "for show and not blow" then this is your place.Being from the Metropolitian area of NY the quality and taste is not near a 5. I would say I am one of being very fortunate of knowing "true" Italian food in taste and quality. By the way, we travel 2x yearly to the Bahamas and stay at least 2-3 weeks e/time. Our array of Restaurants do not include this restaurant!!
