NEW LONDON. Dating to the mid-18th century, this stone home was built by Captain Nathaniel Shaw, a shipowner and merchant. Before the shoreline was filled in, the home had river views, and its picturesque grounds have been recreated. Along with a history that included use as a naval office during the Revolutionary War, the home also hosted George Washington. Now restored, it features period furniture, artwork, clothing, and a wealth of genealogical documents (available by appointment).
