NEW LONDON. On a site overlooking the Thames River and New London Harbor sits this granite fort, built in the mid-19th century. It is the latest incarnation of a military outpost which has been in the same location since the mid-18th century. Now a state park, the site features a visitors center with exhibits on both local military history and the city itself. Visitors also have access to trails, picnic areas, and a fishing pier.
