NEW LONDON. This hilltop cemetery was first used as a final resting place in 1652 and now boasts centuries-old tombstones, some of which are barely legible anymore. Views of the river are available from the vantage point, and a number of markers commemorate early black colonists. Although the cemetery can be a sobering destination, it also evokes a connection to the earliest days of our nation. A favorite place for genealogists and folks who collect tomb rubbings too.
