3. Lyman Allyn Art Museum

NEW LONDON.   Housed in a substantial neoclassical building, Lyman Allyn offers one of the region's most prestigious art museums. Begun in 1926, the museum's collection numbers more than 15,000 and represents decorative arts, fine arts, and examples of American Impressionism. Contemporary exhibits also appear, along with American furniture, Colonial artworks, a good supply of landscapes, and even Asian pieces.
