NEW LONDON. If you're looking for a tasty jumpstart to the morning, Candy's has just what you need. The comfy, inviting restaurant is great for to-go treats, and you'll also find a variety of pastries, breads, and dessert treats. In the mornings, the place also presents breakfast sandwiches, full of good things and not only hearty but delicious to boot.

NEW LONDON. No matter what time of day you find yourself hungry, Gridlock will make sure you're well fed. The casual place is a favorite of families, who enjoy scrambled eggs, home fries, French toast, pancakes, biscuits and gravy, corned beef hash, and fresh fruit. A host of omelets features mushrooms, bacon, cheddar cheese, broccoli, ham, and onions; they all come with home fries and toast. Lunch and dinner menus offer sandwiches and hot entrees, not to mention the restaurant's prime rib and lobster dinners.

More than just a coffeehouse, this fantastic eatery is a haven for folks who want to hang out with a hot cup of joe, kick back on one of the sofas, or catch a view of the Thames from the deck. Occasionally, there's live entertainment (usually on weekends), and if you want to catch up on some work or do a bit of writing, tables are available, and the place is completely conducive to such pastimes. The menu includes wraps, paninis, cookies, pastries, and breakfast fare such as omelets, sandwiches, bagels, and terrific corned beef and hash.

NEW LONDON. A turn-of-the-century Victorian home provides the setting for this enviable restaurant, one of the area's best. Spearheaded by chef Timothy Grill, the kitchen creates luxurious meals rich in appeal and perfectly balanced in flavor. Sunday's buffet brunch is a wonderful treat, thanks to smoked salmon, carved meats, salads, an omelet station, fresh fish, French toast, pastries, fruits, side dishes, caviar, and mimosas. Prices are $24 for adults and $10 for children 3 to 12. Children 3 and under eat free.
