10. Rock 'N' Bowl

MID-CITY.   Rock music and bowling? The combination seems to work for New Orleans' Mid-City Lanes Rock 'n' Bowl. The funky bowling alley/nightclub has been nicknamed the "Rock 'n' Bowl" by locals and is known for booking some of the best bands in the area. Zydeco, rockabilly and rhythm and blues mingle with the clamor of toppling pins and rolling balls. The place hops with bowlers and dancers alike. Tab Benoit and his band was the entertainment. It was simply an excellent evening and watching the bowling was a lot of fun. The bar and bartenders are super nice – they have a great crowd and great atmosphere. We hope to get back in the summer of ’05.

A must for aficionados of New Orleans & Louisiana music. Go on Thursday nights, which is Zydeco night. Big dance floor, ignore the bowling, just dance, drink and party! Cover is usually $5 to $10, very reasonable. Great bands, good fun.
