CBD.   Housed in a historic French-Creole building downtown, this dining room features grand French doors, exposed brick walls and elegant chandeliers. The menu offers delicately prepared masterpieces of haute cuisine, such as "lasagna" of rabbit, veal sweetbreads and grilled lobster. A creative selection of starters includes asparagus salad with crabmeat, baby greens and truffles vinaigrette, and warm goat cheese with frisee, Seranno ham and sour cherries. Chef John Besh's commitment to local produce and flavors means more to New Orleans now than ever before. The night we visited, Moroccan-spiced duck wowed us with delicious polenta and heavenly foie gras alongside preserved quince. Banana-rum cake with cream cheese icing is a sophisticated sweet finish, perfect in this northernmost Caribbean town. (from Southern Living)

John Besh is currently New Orleans' best chef. August is his flagship restaurant and is #1 for the most spectacular food you will find.

we went to new orleans to eat for my birthday. August was a disappointment !! save your money!!
