We were looking forward to a wonderful evening of scrumptious food at Galatoire's Restaurant and were not disappointed with the food part of this statement. We knew that those who are not regulars are put upstairs - we were fine with that but did not expect the difference, no doubt, in the treatment you receive. Our server tried to pour water for us from a container left over from the party before us. We had to ask for menus - there were three of us, we received two. Our server brought three rolls/bread to our table - we asked for more after they were gone, he then brought a basket of ten or twelve which was not necessary. Our server asked our son "are you done yet?" regarding his soup and it was still half full. Server reached across the table numerous times in front of us to place something on the table - actually leaning across the table! I went over to the bar area for a smoke and while sitting there the bartenders behind the bar were singing a rap song and using vulgar language - words such as F... and B.... - I'm a female and I'm a customer but this was done. We were amazed at the lack of refinement and professionalisim at this restaurant during our visit. We felt rushed and the server seemed to be longing for closing time. We spoke with a manager when they walked by and did mention how scrumptious our meal was but the service was a bit off - mentioned this towards the very end of the meal. He gave the usual apology and wished us a pleasant remainder of our stay, etc. Upon returning home I wrote a letter stating our experience at the restaurant and did they reply? No, they didn't - but we expected they wouldn't. The chef is doing something right because the food was good - we don't deny that - but the rest of the overall experience is like a typical below average restaurant - no class at all - unless they save all it all for the bottom floor and the regular customers/locals. If you are a visitor in town - visit another restaurant.

Galatoire's is undoubtedly my favorite restaurant in the United States. Excellent food... GREAT waiters... good wine choice... and very reasonably priced. Thank you for years of Fine Dining!
