RIVERBEND. The decor is basic and the crowd middle of the road, but Cooter's remains a favorite because of the libations it offers and the fact that it serves food LATE. The beer list features 40 beers on tap plus 400 bottled varieties. Beverages may come from far away places such as Africa, Slovakia, Honduras and Wales. And if you're hungry, the kitchen stays open until one hour before closing. Menu items include shrimp and oyster platters as well as muffalettas and hoagies.

FRENCH QUARTER. With an all-day happy hour that runs until 8pm, Club Decatur is a popular spot. Although the ambiance is simple – typical bar decor – locals come here for the drinks. Low budget favorites include $2 drafts and $1.50 well drinks. The bar also stocks 200 types of bottled beer and the prices are affordable. Late night Club Decatur, which happens to take up half a block of Decatur, is a favorite watering hole for food service professionals.

RIVERBEND. This is the Tulane University hangout, so slip into some comfortable clothes and head over to The Boot. The bar, located in Uptown, serves classic pub grub – burgers and Po' Boys – and stocks a variety of beer. The decor is dark and woody and includes two pool tables and video games. Extremely popular after 1 am on weekends, The Boot also offers a number of happy hour and drink specials throughout the week. A favorite is Tuesday night, when locals and tourists alike pay a $5 cover and drink $0.50 beverages from 10pm to 1 am. Beware!

FRENCH QUARTER. Home of the New Orleans' Hurricane, Pat O'Brien's is as good as it gets! This bar is THE BAR tourists visit when making a first trip to the Crescent City. Pat O'Brien's features dueling pianists in its cocktail lounge, and there are a total of five bars available. The main bar area features a family ambiance and a classic jukebox. There's also a relaxing patio area on site. Food is also available, and drinkers can (and often do) take home a souvenir from the gift shop.
