It lets you into the life's of those effected by 9-11. You get a different insight about 9-11 then you do from the media. The pictures and artifacts in the museum are from people who were there during the recovery period. It's amazing to see everything and is definately worth the time when you go to New York. I would HIGHLY recommend it!

Emotional but Important
As the wife of a serving Firefighter I knew that this would be an emotional experience but also one which was uplifting too. The museum is set out in a way that you are able to learn all about the terrible events of 9/11 almost first hand. It was very moving to see how this awful event unfolded before us all , but filmed and told in such an understanding and sensitive way that makes it an absolutely essential place to experience. The museum itself is set in a fairly small area and is quite intimate so is only open to small parties of around 10 people at a time, so it is advisable to book in advance. It was uplifting because you can also read about how those involved are comming to terms with what happened and how life goes on after it. I would recommend this museum as no matter how far away you were on that date it was an event that touched all of us and it makes us realise how much people give through their work for others without a thought for themselves. The ultimate sacrifice.

Moving Tribute to the Workers at Ground Zero
Before I visited this museum, I had not taken on board how much work and effort was required to search through the remains of the Twin Towers and that there was life after the tragedy. It was fascinating and very moving to learn about the NYC firemen's very brave efforts at Ground Zero and to learn their own stories and of their official photographer, Gary Suson who gave many months of his time to document it all. The museum although very small makes for an intimate visit, with no more than 20 or so people allowed in at any one time. I can't recommend it more highly and hope that Gary's photographs will be included in the museum proposed by NY at the Ground Zero site.

Worth a trip to NYC!
This was amazing! The hair on my arms still stands when I talk about it! Even our children (10 &11) thought it was great b/c it was done in such an easy and individualized way. It was not gruesome at all. It was sad, but in a loving way. It's purpose is to help heal. It is spectacular, informative, and moving! A must see while in NYC!!!!

A Must See...
The GZMW was a highlight of our NYC vacation. I didn't expect such an intimate setting...but I loved that it wasn't a huge airy space with lots of people. It was the opposite of many NYC destinations. It was personal, respectful and full of love. We also got to hold some of the items that were recovered. This gave a connection like no other. Gary Marlon Suson was at the museum and gave an introduction. It was very nice to hear his personal accounts and know that he is passionate about the preservation of such meaningful items. I will definitely recommend the GZMW to everyone!

best part of our trip
This tiny Museum in the meatpacking district was a big suprise and tastefully presented, showing images and artifacts from ground zero. the 2-hour tour went by fast as we listened to the 100 stories in our self guided audio tours. Tour guide was professional and caring and this was the centerpiece of what we talked about for the rest of the trip. highly recommended.....

What is so great about visiting GZMW is how unique the experience is. You come into small room but by the time you leave you feel as if you were transported in time back to the recovery. Hearing all the amazing stories and seeing these incredible images creates an everlast impression. One that can never be equaled and NEVER FORGOTTEN. I recommend this museum whenever I someone I know is visiting New York.

I was at the Ground Zero Museum Workshop in Januray 2007. It was such a moving experience!!! The photographs are so amazing and words can't descibe what it was like to hold a piece of the World Trade Centre. I could have spent all day in there !!! I have told all of my family and friends that it is a must see while in NYC. -Carol, Sydney Australia

Ground Zero Museum Workshop was unforgettable on our New York Trip & perhaps the most important thing we did. A small museum but nevertheless an emotionally riveting tour; we cried many times but it was a tasteful and sensitive tour and we learned so much. Highly recommended to learn the incredible stories behind images & artifacts. Go before you go to the Ground Zero site. Gives a perspective well beyond what we saw on TV. Well worth the $$.
