The Buzz -- This hot dog-eating contest has become as much a part of Independence Day as fireworks. ESPN even broadcasts the event live! Held since 1916 at the Nathan's Famous at Coney Island, the event is the ultimate in gastronomic power. Lately, Japan's Takeru Kobayashi helped garner the contest even more fame thanks to his remarkable abilities, winning the event six times straight. The past two years, however, he's fallen to California's Joey Chestnut; last year, the two went into overtime after eating 59 hot dogs each. Stay tuned – it's sure to be a battle for the ages this year! |
