The Buzz -- He might have been born in Kentucky and served as a representative from Illinois, but Abraham Lincoln has many ties to New York City. This exhibit explores them, indicating that the New York Republicans helped raise Lincoln's national profile, nudging him toward becoming America's first Republican president. In New York, Lincoln also spoke on behalf of the Young Men's Central Republican Union in February 1860 at Cooper Union. Among its various offerings, the exhibit features original artifacts, images, and documents written by Lincoln himself. |
