8. The Rose Bar and Jade Bar

GRAMERCY.   The bars of the Gramercy Park Hotel are worth checking out if for no other reason than to experience their swanky-chic atmospheres. With dim candlelight and furniture designed by Julian Schnabel, this daring duo looks like an expatriate hangout circa 1946. Today, you can expect to see a good mix of international travelers, wannabe models, fledging actors and even a few music execs – all of whom enjoy looking mysterious as the customized DJ selections play in the background.
