HELL'S KITCHEN.   If you are in the mood for a no-holds-barred eclectic mix, plan to go to Don't Tell Mama. This piano bar features live jazz, sing-alongs and cabaret rooms, which feature comedy groups, musicals, vocal groups and a variety of other acts. Unlike your typical quiet and cozy piano bar, this one rocks with laughter and conversation from a mix of patrons who would not normally be seen on the street with each other. There is no food served here, so don't go hungry. TRAIN: A, C, E to 42nd St/Port Authority Bus Terminal; C, E to 50th St; N, R, S, 1, 2, 3, 7, 9 to 42nd St-Times Sq   (© 10Best)

My Mom, a friend and I went into this place on my first New York City trip. While we listened to people sing hate song's about our president we requested the piano man play "god bless america" He REFUSED to sing it and said he only plays love songs.....he acted like he was on crack the whole time we were there. When he refused to play our request (after we had tipped him) we left the bar asap!!!! This place is a little nazi bar! If they won't play both sides of the fence then they shouldn't play anything at all!! Will tell everyone not to go there! We went to Smiths Bar around the corner and our night was saved!

We stop at Don't Tell Mama each time we're in nyc--just love the employees who all take turns performing--what talent!! They are just a few steps from Broadway, if they haven't performed already. We're a bar couple and the booths are a bit cramped' but everyone has a great time. Thursday night is much fun as are the others--we stop in at 9 or 10 and stay quite a while--nothing fancy, but very good and enjoyable.
