Dive but fun
You walk in and you're greeted with a single request - "light or dark" (referring to the 2 - and only - choices of beer you have). Honestly it's not the best beer in the world, but the experience is unique - from the worn out floors and tables (that look like they've been there since the foundation of the city), to the sarcastic abuse by the staff. Now, it's no "Brazen Head" in Dublin, but when in NYC, it's a fun place to visit.

Definitely something to experience in NYC. The evening, after office hours crowd is a mix of locals from all walks of life. Sawdust on the floor is memorable. Beer is average, but it's not about the beer. Great pictures on the wall of lots of American Irish heros. Go around 4pm and watch the crowd roll in. Try the cheese and onion platter, will knock you down!
