17. Central Park Boat House

UPPER EAST SIDE.   Overlooking the Lake, the Boathouse stands on the very same place as Calvert Vaux's original construct, which burned to the ground in the 1950s. In season every season, the Boathouse provides diners with the chance to take in Frederick Law Olmsted's urban masterpiece firsthand. Overhead heating ensures that the patio can stay open well into November; and the dockside bar and grill is a popular place for cocktails, light fare and awesome views of the city.
