106. La Lunchonette

CHELSEA.   Although the west side of Chelsea is dotted with empty warehouses and not much else, a tiny corner bistro known as La Lunchonette is worth a trip to this part of town. Once inside La Lunchonette (get past the outside before making a judgment), amid the lacy curtains and exposed brick, you will approve. Grilled lamb sausages over apples and tuna with fennel in Pernod sauce are just two of the reasons why you will be anxious to return. Daily specials vary, one of which recently was a sautéed skate fillet with butter, lemon and capers served with potatoes au gratin. Magnifique!
