STATEN ISLAND.   On Staten Island and in the mood for some good, old-fashioned German cooking? Killmeyer's has just what you need. The one-time inn has changed very little since first opening around 1890, boasting an original mahogany bar, period furnishings, and a unique wrought-iron Spaten sign. The menu features authentic German dishes such as veal shanks and saurbraten. Of course, beer is "kaiser," and the mini-kegs of Kostritzer, Schwarzbier or any of the inn's on-tap Weiss beers are favorites. To get to Killmyers's, take the Staten Island Ferry then Bus S74 to Sharrotts Road.   (© 10Best)

My friend Mike and I have absolutely no problem trekking over the Outerbridge for some of the best beers around and a smoke free atmosphere. Can't recall being in a more comfortable, friendly place in a long time. Barkeeps and waitstaff are tops.

My family has been going here since long before I was born. It is one of the few "secret" places on Staten Island. Nice casual place, good food, huge selection of beer, friendly people, and often live entertainment. Plenty of free parking.
