MIDTOWN EAST.   The first glass-sided office building on Park Avenue, this sleek 21-story gem forever changed the Manhattan skyline. Such is the enterprising spirit you'll find at the restaurant located just off the lobby, where the interior recalls the cutting edge of late 40s and early 50s design – "comfortably retro" is the term that springs to mind. The menu, though, is anything but retro thanks to ingenious creations like New York brook trout with yellow tomato gazpacho and porcini-crusted monkfish with wild mushroom ragout.
