TRIBECA. Punctuated by frequent visits from celebrities and the New York elite, Nobu serves food that definitely lives up to its reputation. Try the "new-style sashimi," lightly cooked with garlic and ginger-flavored olive oil. Squid pasta is also a good choice. Not sure which items to try? Try several! The Omakase – a multi-course selection of the chef's choosing – covers a wide range of flavors, textures and styles. Don't forget to check out the great sake selections and strong wine list – a complement to any meal. Omakase $80-120. TRAIN: 1, 9 to Franklin St

TRIBECA. Japanese-Peruvian fusion fare soars to unbelievable heights at this off-shoot of the original (and legendary) Nobu. Make no mistake: The scene at Next Door is completely independent of that at its elder sibling, but it's no less evocative. Designed by David Rockwell, the sleek space recalls the seaside – one of the walls is even made of nori. The fare, meanwhile, mirrors that of Nobu. Chef Matsuhisa's multi-course omakase menus are even available ($80-120 per person). The deal is simple here: Walk-ins are welcome, reservations unfortunately are not. TRAIN: 1, 9 to Franklin St

TRIBECA. Northern Italian cuisine is given the royal treatment at this infinitely romantic number, a place where words like "flawless" and "perfection" aren't just abstract terms ... they're measurable daily standards. Owner-Chef Michael Cetrulo never fails to dazzle with dishes like his peppered rib venison chop with port and balsamic vinegar sauce or tuna Milanese with arugula, cucumber and tarragon salad. For connoisseurs, the wine list is noteworthy for the emphasis it places on products from small, specialty vineyards. Prix fixe menu is $65, tasting menu is $90. Tasting Menu: $85, $155 with wine. TRAIN: 1, 2, 3, 9 to Chambers St

TRIBECA. Founded by the former headwaiter at Peter Luger, the elder of these two steakhouse siblings occupies the dining room of the historic Vanderbilt Hotel, and its vaulted, blue and white tiled ceiling was designed by Raphael Guastavino, whom the Vanderbilts also hired to work on Grand Central Station. This newer edition in TriBeCa, meanwhile, enjoys an equally spectacular space – one marked by stone mosaics, 14-foot arched ceilings, and walnut floors. On the menu are crowd-pleasers like steak for two, three or four. From there, the choices are à la cart, from cottage fries or mashed potatoes to creamed spinach or fried onion rings.
