MIDTOWN WEST.
This classic New York deli is notorious for employing waitstaff trying to break into the theater, so don't be surprised if your menu is delivered via song. Packed with tourists and locals alike, Stage Deli serves up huge portions of true deli fare like corned beef and pastrami. TRAIN: B, D, E to Seventh Ave. Second location at 1461 Second Ave, (212)439-9989.

I always make a point to stop at Stage Deli when I am in New York.. It's a great place to go apres theater; I remember a memorable night going up there for dinner when I was in town, after going to a show by myself, and sitting at the counter watching "The Graduate" on TV with the counter attendant. Lunch is also worth waiting in line for. Don't judge the originals by the chain knock-offs throughout the country; the original in NY is much much better and maintains its original aura and great classic simple deli food.

Pastrami/corned beef sandwich was good. But I was really looking forward to some good NY cheesecake and was let down. It was huge and looked good, but had no taste or texture. The quest continues...

I've been going to Stage Deli for years and it is the best breakfast around! The bagels are to die for and the atmosphere is great.
