Built in 1796 by Israel Crane, a merchant who constructed the first NJ turnpike, this ten-room house is one of four historic structures on the grounds. Significant changes were made by James Crane in 1840, and give the house its current Greek revival flavor. Guided tours of this Newark house museum feature living history demonstrations, such as open-hearth and beehive oven cooking. Period furnishings include glassware, silverware, rugs, quilts, toys, tools, and an 1816 painted bedroom furniture set owned by Paul Revere IV.
