15. Seabra's Marisqueira

This is a gem. I live in Manhattan and make a trip here at least four times a year. One of their specialities, Acorda de Marisco, is one of the best seafood dishes you could imagine - a huge casserole of shrimps, clams, fish and bread in a garlicly (sp?) garlic sauce that is incredible. It costs $16 and cannot be finished by one person. Sit at the large and popular U shaped bar where you can see all of the shrimp, sardines, lobster and other goodies available in small dishes. The main dining room is dour and the tables close together. There is a double lobster special on Tuesdays which is a terrific bargain. Food prices are below average and portions huge, typical of the area. The neighborhood is Portuguese through and through with interesting shopping and bakeries for the curious.

A local kind of place with emphasis on fresh fish. The food does all the talking here. Go.
