EDITOR REVIEW: Almost a straight shot through the woods from the New Windsor Cantonment, General Washington chose this small, fieldstone, Dutch-style home of Jonathan Hasbrouck to be his headquarters for just over a year towards the end of the Revolution. Location played a big role in his choice not only for proximity to the camp and forts at West Point, but the advantage of overlooking the river. Today the home contains folding period furnishings in its eight rooms to illustrate the necessity of accommodating many people in a small space, as well as military artifacts.
