5. Staatsburgh State Historic Site

Built in 1832 and extensively remodeled in 1896, this Greek revival house was transformed into a Beaux-Arts mansion (65 rooms and 14 bathrooms) embellished with balustrades and a massive portico for Ogden and Ruth Livingston Mills. Now nestled on the grounds of Margaret Lewis Norrie State Park, the home, with its rich furnishings and collection of decorative arts, is open for guided tours and special Christmas programs.   (© 10Best)
