Don't worry about what to put on the table: here at Adams Fairacre Farms you'll find it all from flowers to food. What began as a small roadside stand at the turn of the 20th century has now blossomed into a farm market carrying an eye-popping variety of produce, meats, sweets, gifts, sundries, plants and even power tools. Buy or just browse, sip a sample of coffee or nibble on a goodie from the sweet shop, this is a great spot to while away the hours.

This region has several antique destinations, but if you have time to browse only one, stop into Home Sweet Home Antiques for a fine selection of furnishings and collectibles. Plenty of jewelry and some art are for sale as well.

If seeing the sumptuous period furnishings at the Vanderbilt Mansion left you hankering to see (and perhaps own) some more, stop in at the Hyde Park Antiques Center. You will find an array of offerings from formal silver, glass and furniture to country pottery, art and collectible glassware. Over 40 dealers are showcased and the prices vary widely so you are sure not to leave empty-handed.

If you plan to take in the contemporary masterworks at Dia: Beacon, make sure to leave enough time to stroll down Main Street past the museum to see, touch and perhaps purchase your own art or collectible. This Main Street has seen a major revitalization in the past few years and the museum has anchored a burgeoning art scene replete with galleries that stay open late on second Saturdays. You'll find a number of antiques, boutiques and other specialty shops too.

Housed in a quaint, low building in the middle of the picturesque town of Millbrook, more than 40 dealers, each with their own showrooms, display some of the finest 18th and 19th century decorative arts, furnishings and collectibles to browse or buy. The MAM, as is it known, has been operating for more than 20 years and is a destination for antique-lovers of all stripes. Shipping and custom interior design services are available. While you are in the neighborhood, take a walk down the street to #3283 and take a peek into the Millbrook Antique Center to see where the dealers shop.

Anchored by retail giants Old Navy, Sears, Bed, Bath and Beyond and Bon-Ton department store, this mall features over 65 specialty retailers as well as outlets for more practical purchases such as office supplies, health and beauty aids and stationery. Also on-site are opticians, a dental center, salon and ATM. A food court with restaurants and fast food kiosks keeps hungry shoppers satisfied.

Convenient location right off interstates 84 and 87 makes this largest shopping center in Dutchess County a destination for when the shopping bug bites. And don't forget the added perk of shopping here: it offers completely tax-free shopping on all clothing and footwear up to $110. Since NY sales tax is 8.25% that adds up to big savings! Anchors Target, Sears, Best Buy and Penney's are great for the bargain hunter and stores such as H&M guarantee the latest trends at a fraction of the cost of designer brands.

Not just a shopping center but a whole village filled with artists' studios, craft boutiques, bistros, coffee shops and clothing stores – making this a sure bet to find unique gifts for family, friends, your home and yourself. Most of the purveyors can be found on Kings Highway, but everything is within walking distance of that main street in this quaint small town that has been home to craftspeople for more than 200 years. Most shops are open Tue-Sun from 11am to 5pm, but call ahead to avoid disappointment.

The outlet center to end all outlet centers. Shoppers come from miles around (literally driving for hours!) to shop the upscale offerings of 220 outstanding vendors from Polo to Versace. Pay particular attention to Off 5th, the Saks Fifth Avenue Outlet, loaded with fabulous finds that have the savviest fashionistas putting serious mileage on their plastic.
