Take the car ferry over from Balboa Island. Great paved walkway to rent bikes or rollerblade between Balboa Pier and Newport Pier. See bodysurfing at the Wedge, Prettiest beach is across the boat channel at Corona Del Mar Beach. Best tidepools too.
