5. The Waterfront

Dodgy Bouncers
I was experiencing a night at the waterfront in late October last year and witnessed a group of guys pushing and bouncing around on the dance floor. They started to injure people not in their party and members of the surrounding group expressed their dis-satisfaction verbally. After a few minutes the guys started to do it again, in this second wave a young girl was knocked to the floor. This resulted in one of her group pushing one of the young males. At this point a bouncer jumped to the the guy who had just pushed the bloke who had hit the girl? He got to his feet and put up no struggle. At this point the another two bouncers arrived and started to physically lifted the guy and carry him to the door. Shocked by this reaction I followed the incident where I witnessed his ejection. The guy stood at the door contesting that it was not his fault at this point I noticed that his shirt had been ripped and his face had a slight swelling where one of the bouncers had grabbed him round the head and neck as he was carried out. As I went back in I noticed that the bouncers were standing around the dancefloor allowing this mad group of guys disrupt other peoples night. It was noted that a number of the guys appeared to know one of the bouncers as they kept going up to him and talking quite freely. Then another girl is knocked to the floor by the same idiot that had caused the other incident. The group complained to the bouncers but no further action was taken. At this point I approached the group who had complained and asked the guy who was talking to the bouncer what his conversation was about. He explained that the bouncer first claimed he didn't see it and then under questioning changed his story to suggest a) the girl was drunk and he hardly touched her and b) its like that on these nights people know what to expect. Not happy with this explanation as people were clearly not enjoying this group I felt compelled to understand why no action was taken. Being used to cross examining people in business civil cases I apprached one of the guys in the group who was on he fringe and not as involved in the madness as the others and asked him for the time. After engaging in some general chit chat I asked him if all these guys where his mates. To which he volunteered to me that the group where out larging it and they had come to the waterfront as they were mates with the bouncers and they had got in on the cheap..... So people I will leave you to make your own conclusions but I know I won'tbe going back nor will the other 8 people I went with as we were all quite shocked by the whole thing. Hence I wrote this essay of a review! Happy clubbing, hopefully not at the Waterfront!
