6. Jack London Square

Jack London Square is the undisputed cultural heart of Oakland and is the best place for visitors to take in the city's top shops, boutiques, restaurants, and attractions. Located on the water, this is the best place to people-watch and to soak up local color, as a diverse group of people can always be found wandering, socializing, or hurrying by. The Square's namesake Jack London had a Yukon cabin during his days in Alaska, and it's on display here near the water.
