A National Historic Landmark, Boys Town dates back to 1917 when it was started as a refuge for homeless boys. Father Edward Flanagan started the facility, which gained fame with the 1938 film by the same name. The film won actor Spencer Tracy an Academy Award and national recognition for the home. Guests are encouraged to stop first at the Visitors Center, where you can obtain a map or arrange a guided tour. The center also houses a gift shop and a cafe.   (© 10Best)
