1. Billy Froggs

After riding in the Omaha Corporate Bike Event Sunday, 13 of us (business people) arrived at Billy Frogs a few minutes before opening at noon. We set outside and conversed with an employee cleaning up tables. It was very hot and we asked if there was anyway we could get some water while we waited. He said he’d ask, went it to the bar, which we could see clearly, and spoke to a man. The employee came back out and said “he said no”. So we waited outside in the heat until 12:10 and went inside when the door unlocked. We went into the bar and tried to order water, tea and beer. The person at the bar said we’d have to wait. We were the only group in the place. We asked again and he said that he had to clean the outside tables first and it would be awhile. We told him that we had been waiting outside (he knew this because he could see us) and that they were already cleaned. He turned his back to us so we left. Why open for business if your plan is not to do business!

My favorite bar in Omaha has to be Billy Frogs. My friends and I are regulars at the Billy Frogs in the Old Market. If you are looking for a laid back place to hang out, drink and listen to good music Billy Frogs is the place to go.

My husband and I were at this restaurant on Saturday 09-25-04 at 6:00 in the evening. There were 4 other people in the restaurant and we figured we would get good food and service. Boy, were we wrong. The Mr Pibb I ordered was flat, the Samuel Adams my husband ordered was warm. I requested a salad with my meal and the lettuce was brown, wilted and warm. A lettuce salad should be cold and crisp. The cook should have been embarrassed to serve something like that. When I mentioned this to the waitress, she just took the lettuce away without an apology or a replacement. My sandwich selection from the menu was the Philly steak and according to the menu I had, it should have had onion and mushrooms on it. It did, however it also had green peppers on it which I did not want. If I were a food critic or a restaurant critic, this establishment would not be good enough to rate on a scale in my opinion. I will not revisit this restaurant and I will tell my friends about the terrible experience we had there… Music is ok but to have it so loud that the two people at the table cannot hear each other is a bit much. Maybe quiet the sound a bit.
