LAGUNA BEACH.   Weathered brick walls and an industrial-themed, art-prominent decor provide an interesting counterpoint to the Eastern cuisine at this iconoclastic restaurant. Head chef Michael Kang's featured entrees include catfish with tomato ginger citrus sauce, Kung Pao chicken with dry chiles and peanuts, and a dish aptly called "Hot Sisters" – braised North Sea lotte, Canadian lobster, and Caribbean jumbo prawns over penne pasta. We had an expensive surprise tasting menu and were asked right at the beginning if we were allergic to anything. I thought that was very considered as I am allergic to nuts and some raw fruit and would tell them so. Well, much to our surprise, 5 from 6 dishes had nuts. Even after we pointed it out after each course, they were less than apologetic. And it was not necessary either - we had a cheese plate with nuts on the side and a creme brulee with nuts. How would that be necessary? For the money spent, it was ridiculous. We will certainly never go again. Too bad, it was an interesting concept.

Just so fabulous...great great food. Good service. The calamari is to die for.
