Hurston, the beloved author of Their Eyes Were Watching God, grew up in Eatonville, Florida, just northeast of Orlando. This small museum, an outlet of The Association to Preserve the Eatonville Community, showcases African and African-American art. It also acts to promote the town and its resources. While you're there, pick up a map of historic downtown Eatonville and take yourself on a walking tour of a community that's billed as "the oldest incorporated African American municipality in the United States."
