DOWNTOWN. Although many cities can no longer maintain their public libraries and are closing them regularly, this four-story cement-and-glass building is the pride of Orlando. If you haven't gotten yourself a free library card, shame on you. The place is ideal for a measure of restful silence. With myriad nooks and crannies, it begs you to find a spot in which to settle and finally finish War and Peace. Or at least listen to the audio version.
