Dine on off holiday evening for best experience
I find it interesting that people will leave a negative comment on restaurant after they have chosen a holiday, ie: Valentine's Day to judge it by. Firstly, Le Coq Au Vin, is not a romantic French restaurant. It is an excellent French restaurant with tables close together in a basic dining room. Unless you have requested the side room well in advance you will be seated in the main room. Having said that, the food is par excellence. My husband & I live in Melbourne, FL and if we have an opportunity to dine @ Coq Au Vin, we do. The food has always been outstanding, service very, very good (even filling up water glasses when needed w/o having 2 ask) and the atmosphere is well, a little noisy on a weekend or holiday to be expected for a good restaurant. You go there for the food, not some typical Orlando restaurant big on the phony atmosphere w/mediocre food. If you want a wonderful meal in the Orlando area & not dining out on a weekend or holiday, this is bar none the finest restaurant Orlando has to offer. The neighborhood is no big deal but drive will be well worth it.

Le Coq Au Vin is the most charming, sweet, family run joint in town. The food is primarily authentic French, with an electric twist. The service was fabulous, the food was fantastically good, and it is none other than the best restaurant in Orlando.

One visit to Coq au Vin will tell you that this is a true French Country restaurant with world-class service, cuisine, and wine with a relaxed atmosphere. Take a look at their menu at http://www.lecoqauvinrestaurant.com/dinner_menu.html and you will want to reserve your table immediately. You will not be disappointed!

Chef Louis Perrotte (Cordon Bleu-Paris graduate) and his charming wife Magdalena run a very high-end French bistro-styled restaurant. The food is excellently prepared and presented, the menu well-chosen and, sad to say, unique for Central Florida. Despite the need for a little more noise-deadening insulation/material on the ceiling, I still wish there were 2 dozen more restaurants of the calibre of Le Coq au Vin in both Orlando and in the Tampa/St. Pete neighborhood where I live. Mme. Perotte adds the traditional personal touch of a husband-wife run restaurant, the greeting of her guests in the refined way that makes the locals hope tourists never find such a place. However, the cat's out of the bag: make reservations a day or two ahead if you hope to get a table.

The pest control guy must have been there the TWO times my wife and I ate dinner at this place. It was highly recommended and the food was good but gee, the atmosphere is just none existent. Low ceilings all around in this 'should be torn down' old rotted out building. Consider yourself warned!

Food is very good but the atmosphere is noisy.. A party of 16 people in a room with three couples on Valentine's weekend is not good. Management should not have allowed it to be so noisy. It certainly does not have a romantic setting. If you want good food and don't care about the atmosphere then this may be for you.

The best, most unpretentious French restaurant we've ever been to. We are "food snobs" and expect and enjoy great food when we go out. We were not disappointed and have considered flying in just to go to dinner here. Fortunately, we won't have to; we're visiting again in October! Don't be discouraged by looks. Extreme care and presentation of food with excellent and very friendly service. The souffles (both savory and sweet) are to die for...not to be missed.
