You'll find one of the most sophisticated dinners at California Grill atop the Contemporary Resort, where you can stay late to catch the fireworks show over Magic Kingdom. Southern Living Photo by Gary Clark. ©2010. All Rights Reserved.
MAGIC KINGDOM ®.
Affording incredible views of the Disney landscape, this fashionable restaurant sports pale wooden walls and accents of black granite. An exhibition kitchen dominates the space and permits diners a peek at the fevered preparations necessary for topnotch cuisine. Entrees make the most of the restaurant's rotisserie and wood-burning oven, resulting in gourmet pizzas, roasted tofu and pork tenderloin. You'll also discover pan-roasted grouper, vegetable risotto and lamb shanks. Desserts run the gamut from light to decadent, and California wines resonate with the West Coast-inspired cuisine.

Awesome and then some ...
My first time at the California Grill was a great experience!
We had the shrimp flatbread to start and then the Filet Mignon for the main course which came on top of mashed potatoes with broccoli. All of the food was perfect and the waitstaff was the best I've seen.
It's a little pricey but the view of the Castle at magic Kingdom and Disney was amazing at 15 stories high. If you're there when they shoot off fireworks, you can go out on the catwalk ... worth the price!
YOU MUST make reservations way in advance!
I can't wait to go back!

This is one of my very favorite restaurants on or off Disney World Property. There is a tremendous variety represented in this menu, from soup, to sushi, flatbreads to seafood, pork and steak. For a 1st course, the goat cheese ravioli is fantastic! For main entree, I have tried everything from the pork tenderloin (their top dish!) to the scallops, grouper, halibut and beef tenderloin. any one of these could be considered a top dish, and I recommend them all. The wine selection is also outstanding! Yes, the place can be a tad noisy, but the food and the view are simply outstanding!

Who would ever rate this noisy; frantic; overcrowded; showplace as a 5* restaurant? The food arrives at your table barely warm after it waits for the server to pick it up in the showplace kitchen and carry it, uncovered, to your far-away table in this cavernous 300 seat amphitheater. When it does arrive, you find that you've overpaid for a flatbread that you'd reject at Pizza Hut as flavorless and smaller than the mini. We all tried the Lobster Bisque and it was a thick soup as a bisque should be. But, it tasted more like a pumpkin soup. There wasn't even the hint of a lobster flavor and it was only a puree of vegetables. As for the main course, we tried the Haddock, the pork and the lamb. While the presentation was excellent the flavor of each left a lot to be desired and surely didn't rate more than three stars. Yes, the view is wonderful as is the 10PM fireworks display. But, please don't call this anything but a Disney cartoon of a gourmet restaurant....
