3. Tenjin Matsuri Festival

The Buzz -- This enormous, dazzling festival showcases Osaka as a waterfront city. Each year thousands of brilliantly costumed people parade down Mido-Suji Avenue to the Tenjibashi Bridge where they board 100 boats, considered the highlight of the festivities. Once upon the boats, the merry fleet lights torches and lanterns as they proceed down the Dojimagawa River making a sparkling display for over 1 million viewers. An extensive fireworks display caps off the night of summer fun for the festival that celebrates Osaka's water ties.
