7. National Bunraku Theater

A beautiful building that mixes modern features with traditional Japanese architectural elements, the National Bunraku Theater houses the traditional art form of Puppet Theater that originated in Osaka. Captivating performances run for three weeks each during the 7 months the theater is active. During performances, master puppeteers manipulate puppets two-thirds the size of human subjects. Three persons manipulate each puppet causing not only its arms and legs to move but its eyes to roll and lips to imitate speech.
