NORTH OF DOWNTOWN.   Faro Vitale, a native Sicilian chef, opened this restaurant in 1980, and it's thrived ever since. The food is authentic Southern Italian, which means favorites like seafood marinara, chicken cacciatore, and pasta with white clam sauce. Chicken pomodoro and shrimp scampi are applauded as well, and pasta primavera appeals to lighter appetites. In addition, gourmet, thin-crust pizzas are made to order. Simply great Italian food period. Another "diamond in the ruff" here in Oshkosh. As any local can tell you, Oshkosh is not known for it's restaurants. Vitale's like only one or two other eatery's here in Oshkosh is a true gem. If you want excellent Italian food look no further.
