About Oxford Restaurants
Classy and distinctive, Oxford's dining scene starts in Courthouse Square. Surrounded by charming, authentic late 19th and early 20th century architecture, this inviting downtown district provides a desirable atmosphere for the many local dining rooms where Southern specialties appear in a variety of presentations. City Grocery, one of the town's best fine dining establishments, serves up artful, regionally inspired dishes in a casually elegant space converted from an old stable. Its sister restaurant, BBB (Big Bad Breakfast) specializes in hearty fare, prepared with primarily local ingredients, from free range bacon and sausage to jams and jellies made with fresh fruit. BBQ is big in Oxford, too. Among the numerous places to enjoy pulled pork and slabs, The Ribcage is a popular choice. If you're craving sweets and some local chatter, stop in at Bottletree Bakery for a fresh-baked pastry and coffee. Be it haute cuisine or biscuits and gravy, Oxford's kitchens are sure to cook up something to your liking then serve it with a touch of homespun hospitality. -- Elizabeth Baxley, 10Best Editor
