About Oxford Shopping
Compact and pedestrian friendly, the Courthouse Square District in Oxford houses a tasteful selection of shops that includes independent book stores, clothing boutiques, furniture stores, and art galleries. Neilson's, the town's inviting department store, opened in 1839, and in addition to its selection of clothing and housewares, it offers an interesting glimpse into the past, with old photos and a letter from William Faulkner hanging on the wall. Oxford boasts a number of antique galleries, too. Located downtown, Crème De La Crème specializes in fine furnishings and garden décor, and Oxford Floral Company features china, silverware and antique furniture. Known for their extensive merchandise and large facilities, The Depot Antique Mall and Tommy's Antique Mall also are popular with collectors. -- Elizabeth Baxley, 10Best Editor
